SOLDDare
2004 Silver G4 coupe. £15,250 SOLDStandard wheel base in
Metallic Silver with burgundy interior and chrome dials and factory immobiliser.
1800cc with 150bhp and Weber Alpha fuel injection and four branch side exit
exhaust. Standard cockpit version. Full harness seat belts, wide bodied model and
the current owner was told by Mark Walklett that this is the last standard wheel base cars to be built.
We have heard that this may not now be the case, but it's certainly one of the
last ones and has only covered approximately 2,000 miles from
new.
SOLDThis beautiful G4 will come with a new MOT. It is an amazing
road going car that can be used daily, on track daysand also for hill-climbing
and sprinting. We have just taxed it and have been checking it out by using it
on the road at every available opportunity.SOLD
SOLDAs a later car it has most of the controls on steering column
stalks and the other switches on the dash are illuminated and labelled - just
like on a proper car! This has to be the most practical standard wheelbase G4
we've ever had.SOLD

Gerry Hunt's square tube chassis Ginetta G4
SOLD
August 2007

Recreated from a Ginetta chassis and with 1960s registration and paperwork.
Gerry had two G4s in the 1960s and his exploits are well documented in both
editions of the excellent G4 book
by Trevor Pyman, The concept was simple: We agreed to finish a partially
restored car for Gerry to produce a car as close to his Series 3 car as possible
- for road and hillclimb/sprint use. The process involved a number of
fascinating and enjoyable meetings at The Station Hotel in Framlingham! We were
fascinated to learn that the unusual looking Series 3 bonnet was sold to Gerry
by Bob Walklett because Gerry wanted the Series 3 roof for it's more aerodynamic
shape - and Bob would only sell them both together!

As you can see, the result was still attractive and also featured
neat wheel arch extensions as fitted to the works G4R of Chris Meek. We
faithfully recreated these too. Finding the headlights was a real mission but
the project got to the stage where we couldn't charge for all our efforts but
enjoyed the results all the same.
Since
taking delivery, Gerry has completed 1500 miles and has developed the car with
several specialists local to him in Northampton. Sadly he is not well enough to
use it now. It is tucked away in a barn in Northamptonshire and his brother John
Hunt can be contacted on 01604 402 984.
The exhaust was remade by BTB and ceramic coated at a cost of
over £1000!
A beautiful airbox, full suspension set up and other nice touches have been
added by the respected Northampton Motorsport. The rebuilt engine with a fast
road cam and twin webers gives about 120bhp at only 5000 rpm which makes it
useable yet very fast and competitive.

The car is painted in a current vauxhall colour of 2 pack base
and lacquer which Gerry felt captured the spirit of the original. He has fitted a
Lotus Elan gearbox with an alloy bellhousing and concentric clutch slave cylider,
stronger half shafts and has a selection of wheels and tyres. This is a unique
car with interesting history and connections. It is a super road car and because
of the circumstances is for sale direct from our friends Gerry and John Hunt.

Anyone wishing to take advantage of this excellent deal but who
would prefer a more standard bonnet and the removal of the rear arches, might
like to consider buying the car from Gerry and John and bringing he car to us
for a reduced and fixed price of £2000 including VAT.. |
